Since deciding to dedicate his life to mental health care while working as a floor technician during his college years, Matthew has relentlessly pursued excellence and compassion in his vocation. Matthew’s professional journey in mental health care is marked by continuous growth and dedication. Initially, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, laying the foundation for his understanding of mental health. His commitment deepened as he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors. This academic progression culminated in him becoming dual board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Adult Psychiatric Mental Health and Adult General Health signifying his expertise and commitment to providing exceptional care in the field of mental health and general medicine.
Since earning his board certification as an Adult Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2007, Matthew has dedicated himself to mental health care. With a career beginning in 2000, he brings over twenty years of experience to the field. His expertise spans various clinical environments, including skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and hospitals. Now part of the shrinkMD telepsychiatry team, Matthew leverages his deep-rooted passion for mental health, extensive training, and vast experience. He aims to guide patients on their paths to wellness with empathy and expertise, offering support every step of the way.
Outside of his professional life, Matthew is passionate about music and classic cars, boasting diverse musical interests and a keen appreciation for the charm of vintage automobiles. As an ardent sports fan and gym enthusiast, he gives equal importance to physical well-being in his own life as part of a holistic health approach, mirroring the comprehensive care he advocates for his patients. At the core of his life is his family—his sanctuary of joy. A dedicated father and committed husband, he treasures the moments spent with his family, whether engaging in sports with his son or delighting in tea parties or cheerleading with his daughters. His dogs, Lola and Mr. Ellis, are cherished companions whose presence has been a steadfast support throughout his life’s journey.
